President / Volunteer
Brief info

Gentry Jackson is the President of Higher Dimensions. This is a brief bio on how the organization got started and the unfair treatment of African Americans due to Mandatory Minimum Sentencing.

Gentry Jackson was born in Gary Indiana. He had no criminal history and was at home defending his family and ended up in prison and sentenced to 48 years.

I would like to start by comparing his length of time from the perspective of Jacob Blake who was shot in the back 7 times by an Evanston police officer who walked free of any charges, George Zimmerman’s acquittal, in the shooting of Travon Martin, the Laquan McDonald subsequent shooting by police officer Jason Van Dyke in Chicago who was sentenced to 10 years, and all other charges dropped only serving 3 years.

Moreover, On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was murdered in the U.S. city of Minneapolis by Derek Chauvin, a 44-year-old white police officer. Floyd had been arrested on suspicion of using a counterfeit $20 bill. Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck for over nine minutes while Floyd was handcuffed and lying face-down in a street. Two other police officers, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane, the police officer were charged with second-degree murder instead of first-degree murder.

As a resident of Gary Indiana can we come together to bring justice and mercy for Gentry Jackson and others who are given longer sentences due to bill 1006# (2014) Mandatory Minimum Sentencing?
